Stress is the body's natural response to pressure. In short bursts, it can be useful — sharpening focus and helping us meet deadlines or escape danger. But when pressure continues without recovery, stress begins to deplete our mental and physical resources.
Stress vs. anxiety
Stress is usually tied to an external demand or situation: too much work, financial pressure, caring responsibilities or major life changes. Anxiety, by contrast, often persists even when the external pressure has passed. The two commonly overlap, and both respond well to CBT.
The warning signs
Chronic stress can show up as irritability, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems, muscle tension and a sense of being overwhelmed. These signs are not weakness — they are signals that your system needs attention and rest.
How CBT can help
CBT for stress helps you identify the thinking patterns that amplify pressure — perfectionism, people-pleasing and catastrophic thinking — and build practical coping strategies. Together we look at what can be changed, what can be accepted, and how to protect your wellbeing while still meeting your responsibilities.
